Fat burn results during 5 day fasting program - Eat By Alex Collaboration

How much of your weight loss on a diet actually comes from burning fat? In our study with Eat By Alex, we found some surprising answers! Here’s a look at the numbers and what they mean for sustainable weight loss.

Why Fat Burn Matters More than Just “Weight Loss”

We all know weight loss isn’t just about the number on the scale—it’s about what that number represents. Losing fat versus losing water has a big impact on whether the results are sustainable. With the help of saliva acetone levels and our bio-energetic framework, we calculated how much fat was burned over the 5 days of the Eat By Alex program.

What We Found: Fat Burn Insights

Here’s a snapshot of our findings:

  • For men, total fat burn ranged between 1,092 and 1,328 grams over 5 days.

  • For women, it ranged between 497 and 952 grams.

We saw the biggest fat burn on the last day, where the caloric deficit was highest. On that final day:

  • Men burned 281–339 grams of fat.

  • Women burned 131–245 grams.

In total, 45% of the sustained weight loss could be directly linked to fat burn. These insights suggest that the Eat By Alex diet is effective for achieving actual fat loss, not just short-term weight changes, making it a strong option for those looking to support sustainable weight management.
